"Little Woman" prints
"Little Woman" prints
I made these ink drawings in 1994, in college at UW Madison. While preparing for an exhibit in 2022, I came across them in my flat file. We had a nice visit together, me and these drawings, and ended up on a winding trip down memory lane, thinking of the young woman that I was: so full of angst and self-doubt yet also resolute to make her mark on the world and be an artist.
Two things have remained very consistent throughout my practice: I love clean, crisp lines and I make art about the experiences and stages of womanhood. It’s as if these drawings are the older siblings to the work I was making in 2021-22. The relationship between these past and present ink drawings, separated by almost 30 years, made an impact on me and so I included them in my exhibit. Ironically, I hadn’t made any prints of them and I got asked by so many people if I had prints for sale. So…here we are.
